Two years ago I was in desperate need for new living room furniture. Buying a sofa is probably the most important furniture purchase you can make for your home. It is where we spend our time sitting and drinking our coffee in the morning and cuddling up watching movies at night. There are a lot of important moments that happen on the living room sofa, so it was important to me that I find the perfect one. After searching online for a very long time I decided that Pottery Barn’s Chesterfield Collection was exactly what I was looking for. The only problem was there was so many fabrics to choose from, where do I even start. There also was not many reviews online which is why I decided to post this Pottery Barn Chesterfield Sofa Review.

There are so many furniture stores out there, but Pottery Barn is frequently my go to. They make shopping online for big pieces easy and they have the best delivery service. Their products are so high quality too. Pottery Barn sofas are also typically less expensive than the ones from Restoration Hardware. I hear they are also easier to care for too.
Chesterfield Sofa Fabric & Color
The Chesterfield Collection is exactly what I was looking for. It has beautiful tufting as well as gorgeous rolled arms. It is elegant but also something I could see us eating popcorn and FaceTiming family on. However, the Chesterfield fabrics & colors were very confusing to me. There are so many to choose from. The few reviews online said that a lot of the fabrics tended to snag and pill which made me super nervous. I did know that I needed to go with a Performance Fabric. At the time I had a 3 year old, 9 month old that was always spilling formula, and a 75 lb dog. Cleaning up spills was crucial and worth the extra price tag. Especially since this was going in our main living area where we spend most of our time.
Once I decided I needed a Performance Fabric I headed to my local Pottery Barn store to look at swatches and I was so glad I did. The sales associate was so helpful. There are so many fabric types including linen, chenille, tweed, basketweave, and so on (you can read about them and see all the colors here). She told me that it was true, and many of the fabrics did tend to pill and snag over time. However she said that the chenille fabric did not do this and in her opinion wore the best over time compared to the over fabrics.
I took her advice and got the chenille fabric in the cloud color.
I would say it is a warm grey compared to the fog which is more of a true/cool grey. My mother has this in the fog color and it is gorgeous. You can go in store or order free swatches online and I highly recommend doing this. They also have a leather sofa option if that is what you are looking for.
Chesterfield Sofa Size & Dimensions
I also want to mention a little bit about the Chesterfield sofa size & dimensions. I purchased the regular size sofa which is 89″ long but they also have a grand sofa that is 97″ long. It comes in a loveseat and 2 sizes of arm chairs (I got two of the small ones). They also have a create your own option where you can create a sectional in almost any configuration. The furniture pieces are also so incredibly comfortable too.
Chersterfiled Sofa Care
The Chesterfield Sofa Care is also super simple. It spot cleans like a dream. With just soap and water everything has easily come off of it. There was one huge milk spill and I was able to take the cushion cover off and wash them according to the directions (no dry clean required).

Their delivery service is the best because they give you such an accurate delivery window, bring everything in, and set it up for you. No assembly required which I try to avoid at all costs. Pottery Barns customer service is also great incase you ever have a problem.
Is The Chesterfield Sofa Worth It?
Yes! It has now been two years and I LOVE it. The fabric is so soft and the seat cushions do not have one pill or snag in it despite the kids jumping on it daily and the dog jumping on and off of it. I highly recommend the Pottery Barn Chesterfield sofa and I hope this review helps someone in their purchase.
How I styled my Chesterfield sofa was super simple as well. I purchased some throw pillows to add a small pop or color and I put some fun throws on the armchairs. Besides being a lovely piece of furniture I also have to say I now refer to it as the PB comfort sofa because it is just so comfy! Also a tip: A few times a year they do a buy more save more event. You can get a great discount so I usually wait for one of these sales to buy their furniture.
