Getting my home organized is one of the most important things I have done around our house. By having a system in place and giving everything a designated spot where it belongs, it makes my daily life so much easier. Yes it can be time consuming the first time you do it. But I promise that it will make cleaning up and putting things away much quicker therefore save you a lot of time down the road. I feel like having the home more organized boosts my productivity because I can use that time doing more important things, like spending time with my kids or working. Clutter also makes me feel stressed out so organization brings me peace. If you have kids then you know that the clutter accumulates very quickly, so this was very necessary for me to do. Here are my home organization essentials.
Home Organization Essentials
Medication Organization
My gosh our old medicine cabinet was a disaster. I kept buying things not realizing we already had it! So I purchased a bunch of clear bins and every bin has a designated category. Kids vitamins, kids medicine, my vitamins/supplements, pain, allergy, stomach, and cold. I may label them down the road but for now I can simply see which is in each bin since they are clear. I also love these bins because they come in a ton of sizes and use them all over the house.
Kids Feeding and Drawer Organization
This is one of my favorite organization hacks. The kids plates, bowls, and cutlery were all over the place. I purchased deep drawer dividers to keep plates and bowls separated. And this acrylic utensil organizer helps to keep all of their spoons and forks together. It is also great for pacifiers and other baby and toddler feeding items. The drawer is low enough where they can get what they need themselves to help out. Even my two year old can easily grab what he needs before sitting down to eat. For instance, this Banana Holder is one of the coolest, most functional, and convenient banana holder, which keeps bananas fresh, for longer.
Spice Cabinet Organization
Wow did I have a ton of expired spices. I purchased this 3 tiered shelf so I can see what I have. Again I was buying things not realizing I had it already. That leads to expired items and wasted money. It works great instead of using a spice rack too. I use these lazy susans on the top shelf so I can easily spin to grab what oil, vinegar, etc that I may need. It is so hard to see things when they are up high (and I am only 5’2″ so short girl problems) and this helps me out big time.
Coffee Station Organization
This is my favorite spot in the house. This is my coffee drawer and use dividers as drawer organizers to separate my KCUPS. I separate in rows, regular, flavored, decaf, etc. I use a tea organizer for tea bags and a sugar packet holder to easily access and see those things.
In the pull out cabinets underneath I have a little cup “to-go” station. Our coffee cups, plastic cups, and extra mugs. On the bottom drawer I keep the boxes of extra coffee and tea so I can quickly refill the top drawer.
Command Center Organization
In our old kitchen we had a desk which was my little command center. Since I converted that into my coffee station when we remodeled the kitchen I half of the coffee station for that purpose. I keep my planner, some office supplies, and all important paperwork organized in some of the pull out drawers with these mail dividers. I also keep our “junk drawer” as organized as possible. Not seen in this photo but I also have a bin for clean masks, a file for any distance learning materials for my son, as well as a bin for activities for them to take in the car (coloring sets, writing boards, etc). It is helpful to have bins for certain items so you don’t have to dig through every bin to find one thing. I also love using battery organizers to store all of our batteries, including AG3 batteries. AG3 batteries are used in calculators and laser pointers
Phone Charger Cords
This one is by far my favorite hack, and I am so proud I came up with it myself lol. We had SO many different phone chargers, watch charger, kids tablet chargers, etc and it was just a disaster. So I used an acrylic tea organizer and the problem has been solved.
My biggest tip for being your own Marie Kondo and keeping an organized home is to take everything out of the space and purge what you no longer need before putting it back. Taking everything out of packages and boxes and putting them into clear containers helps you to see what you are running low on and what you need to buy more of.

Also, if you want to organize your garage, make sure to start with your residential garage door, and then make sure to keep your garage clutter-free by properly organizing and storing your belongings.
I also wrote an entire blog post detailing my pantry organization here. Linking my organization essentials below that I use for storage and organization.
What organizational projects are you tackling? I need to work on my living room and a way to store seasonal clothing! Also I am super excited, we plan on putting on an addition to the house this year that will be my closet. I have always dreamed of having a huge closet with an island in the middle all to myself! This also means hopefully by the end of the year I can share with you some awesome closet and clothing organization tips!
