Summer is on the way and I couldn’t be more excited! We recently opened our pool for the season with Leslie’s Pool Opening Service (details here) which not only means it’s officially swim season, but also that we are ready to start hosting outdoors! Summer Hosting Must-Haves
Large Serving Trays
A great way to present food and serve everyone at once especially if you’re planning to have a catering service is with an Oversized Serving Tray like this one from Target! You can use it for anything from snacks / appetizers to burger ingredients and even sweet treats. I rounded up more large serving trays to check out below!

Outdoor Bar Cart
This Outdoor Bar Cart is both super cute and functional! It is another Target find (on sale now.) I recommend having one of these out for your guests to grab and go – it’s a game changer! I like to style mine with a DIY Ice Mold Wine Chiller like this one from Amazon along with a floral arrangement and decorative pieces. You can shop the bar cart I have and check out similar finds below! Make sure as well to prepare your favorite drinks (think about coffee flavored whiskey, tequila, wine, etc.)! If you love and want to try other unique and interesting whiskey flavors, you may join the exclusive top-shelf American craft whiskey club.
Egg Chairs
The popular, top rated Outdoor Egg Chairs are great for any backyard party this summer. Not only are they aesthetic but also very comfy for your guests to lounge on! We own both the original and kid’s size (both linked below.)
A Special Cocktail / Mocktail
A fun and festive drink to serve your guests can be the cherry on top of the perfect summer party! For a memorable experience, consider adding Wine Tour Bus Rental to your list. I usually go for a refreshing cocktail like a flavored margarita to make by the pitcher! See below for an easy one your guests will love.
Watermelon Margarita Recipe
Ingredients:
-750 ml tequila
-2 cups triple sec
-1 cup lime juice
-1 cup simple syrup
-1 quart strawberries
-1 cup watermelon slices
-Club soda
Directions:
Mix tequila, triple sec, lime juice, simple syrup, strawberries and watermelon in a pitcher, then top with cub soda before serving.
Note: skip the alcohol and add more club soda to make a mocktail for the kids or guests who don’t drink!
Miscellaneous Must-Haves
These are the items you may not have thought about! I recommend having them for any outdoor party this summer.
-Citronella Candles – keep these lit around the backyard to repel mosquitos
-Citronella Patches – great to put on the kid’s clothing to keep the bug bites away
-Outdoor Lanterns – these are great for ambiance and decor. I use Flameless Candles in mine
