When hosting my friends, I love having unique touches. This DIY wine chiller is a great to do just that this summer. It is super easy and fun and will have your friends talking for weeks after. Not only is it a practical ice wine chiller but it looks amazing too. I also suggest you to consider these Swisscave wine coolers that have a great range of humidors.
But for now, let me show you how I created this chiller so you can recreate it yourself at home. Watch a video of the process on my Instagram
DIY Wine Chiller
First you need to get a wine chiller mold. I have linked a couple from both Crate and Barrel and Laura Ashley. They make the process of making your own wine chiller so easy! Turn it upside down and make sure its clean, empty and ready for use.
Lay out all of the fresh fruit or any other items you would like in the DIY wine chiller and arrange them however you would like. Once the water freezes around them it will be clear so use depth, height and color to your advantage to make this as interesting as possible. Flowers work great for this as well!
Next fill the ice wine chiller container with filtered water to the max line (remember ice expands as it freezes so don’t over fill it). Fresh filtered water will create a more clear effect in the ice making the items arranged inside more visible.
Place the lid on top. Then place the chiller in your freezer as flat as possible and let it freeze overnight. After removing the frozen form out of the freezer make sure to run it briefly under hot water to release it from the mold.
Flip the mold upside down over onto the stainless steel base. Arrange flowers, fresh fruit or any other items you would like around the base to finish off the look. Place your wine in the middle to keep it cold and you have created a unique wine chiller your friends will be talking about for days.
The finished look is really something show stopping and a both practical ice wine chiller as well as just a wonderful centerpiece for any gathering this summer.
I love entertaining outside and spending time with my friends and family. I recently gave my outside patio a giant makeover and I love how it turned out! Check it out here
