Basic Wardrobe For A Stay At Home Mom

A stay at home mom has more jobs and more things to do then is required by any other career out there. I am not technically a stay at home because I own businesses and go to the office throughout the week. However I am home so much and running all over the place my wardrobe definitely reflects that of a stay at home mom. I dress for comfort because on any day I may be working out, running errands, going to school drop off, stopping in my office, home cleaning, at the park, you get the picture. I am all over the place and doing a million things therefore I need to be comfortable yet look put together.

And just because we tend to wear a more casual outfit, doesn’t mean we don’t need a wardrobe plan. You can easily create a stay at home mom’s capsule wardrobe. I want to share with you the my basic wardrobe for a stay at home mom.

Leggings and Joggers

Leggings are mom friendly but they don’t have to be boring! You can easily style them into really cute outfits. You can also switch things up and do a print, faux leather, moto, etc. I personally do try to keep my leggings black because they get the most use and go with anything else I may put on. Sometimes I am squeezing in a workout during the day which is why I love to wear leggings. Just because they are comfortable does not mean they can’t look put together. Another great alternative is joggers! Still cozy but cute.

Jean Jacket and Moto Jacket

Denim jackets are wardrobe staples. They are perfect to transition into the seasons. It’s light weight and the perfect layering piece. I also consider it a neutral and can be worn over almost anything. It has just the right amount of casual vibe while still looking chic. The same goes for a good moto jacket. I love how you can add a little edge while you are adding an extra layer.

Sneakers and Mules

I would say my top two shoe picks for a stay at home mom are going to be a sneaker and a mule. If I think I will be getting a workout in or heading to the park I will make sure I throw on a pair of sneakers. Otherwise I love a cute mule. They are super cute and have a way of dressing things up. I also love the fact that I can easily slide them off and on when coming in and out of the house a million times throughout the day.

A Baseball Cap

Or as I like to call it the bad hair day saver. We all have a good one or two days a week where our hair probably should be washed, but it just isn’t time. I personally wash the same days of the week lol Throwing on a cute baseball cap saves the day because it looks like it just goes with your outfit and you want to wear it. I have an embarrassing amount of hats in so many colors.

Shop The Look

What I love about all of these mom outfits is that they are made up of staples pieces. You are really creating a mom capsule wardrobe and you can mix and match the pieces. I held off on buying Golden Goose sneakers for awhile. They aren’t cheap and I honestly hated them at first. Then I liked them, now I love them. These are not too ‘dirty’ looking either and are my favorite! They are also really comfortable and go with everything. Spanx faux leather leggings are a wardrobe essential. I just love them. This is my go to look when I know I will be working out at some point during the day. It is sort of sporty but feminine. These are also my go to sneakers for everyday and working out. Also these Target tanks are only $8 and are awesome for layering. I have a ton of them.

I love a good edgy look. These joggers are a performance factor and are super light weight. A graphic tee is a way of adding a little bit of fun to the outfit too. Also I have to tell you how much I love these faux fur mules. I live in them. They are also another Target find are only $25. I personally like to invest in a good pair of sunglasses because they are an item that gets worn every single day.
