I don’t think there is a more classic item of clothing than a white button down shirt or a flowy button up shirt. It is a timeless piece that is a staple in most closets. What I love most about it is how versatile it is. There are endless ways to wear it. You can dress it up or wear it in a more casual way. I even love to wear an oversized white button down shirt as a bathing suit cover up. I feel like most people think of it as boring but I want to show you how to have a little fun with it. Below I am going to show you how to style a white button down shirt and some of my favorite ways to wear it.
How To Style A White Button Down Shirt
With Denim Shorts
Ok so this is my favorite way to style a white button down shirt! I love how it balances out the denim shorts. This is the perfect casual spring/summer look. It is great for everyday and I love accessorizing with some of my favorites like with a belt and hat. It pairs seamlessly with a cute pair of sandals too. I have to tell you that you NEED this hat for this spring and summer. I lived in it last year! It sold out last year too so scoop it up while you can! This belt is such a classic, yes it is an investment, but I have had it for years and wear it all of the time.
These Tory Burch Miller sandals are also staples of mine. I have them in a ton of colors because they are so comfortable. They are also timeless because I have been wearing them for over a decade. I have all of the pairs still that are that old and they look brand new so they wear very well and are super high quality.
With Jeans
So many times we want throw on a t-shirt with our sneakers and jeans. However, think that the button down shirt adds such an effortless style to it and makes it look more chic. I also threw on one of my favorite baseball caps which is great for covering up those bad hair days and makes it a bit more casual of a look. I have to add that I have been loving my Golden Goose sneakers. Honestly, I was on the fence about them for awhile but the hype is real. They literally go with everything and these ones are not too ‘dirty looking’. You can read my full review on them here. These jeans I just purchased and love them. They are straight and an ankle length. I find them very flattering and very comfortable to wear.
With A Midi Skirt
Midi skirts are one of my favorite style of skirts because they are so flattering on so many people. Here I paired it with my white button down shirt but tied it to be more of a crop length since the skirt is kind of high waisted. This is such a great look to wear to work or even to dinner.
